Screen Shot 2015-04-16 at 11.01.48 PMOkay, so you have to update ugly .ppt slides for your staff meetings.  You have to use ugggh Outlook 73 times a day, and if you are lucky…you get to venture into the world of Excel and Word.  I remember when I first sat down at an Official Use Computer and turned it on…I felt like it was 1999, I searched for “Napster” in the IE browser and I got ERRORS, because you can’t do that in IE 5.  I didn’t know how I was going to create products on an outdated system.  So I started to create everything on my home computer.  My weekly newsletter, my flyers, my posters…etc.

The problem with that is the word “home.”  Every night at home I would spend time working because of the outdated and limited software on the work computers.  I would then email or bring the products to work but if I had to make a change to the document guess what?  I wasn’t able to because I didn’t have the software at work.  You know what else, I have never had an assistant that was proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, or inDesign so that was also no bueno.  I was creating in a vacuum!

I decided to establish some boundaries and create some cute little average looking templates I could use in the Microsoft eco system.  I wasn’t impressed with the products, but guess what?  No one knew or commented on the changes!  Matter of fact, no one cared.  I realized that I was the only nerd who cared about my font and my layers.  Today I work in an even more secure area, so I have had to rely upon similar tactics.  And you know what?  No one cares!  So I encourage you to learn how to get the most out of the software on your work computer so you can create simple products that inspire and excite!  Recently, I removed all of my documents from this site, but if you need anything just send me an email.
